Noun Clauses: The Clauses That Act as Subjects and Objects
Noun clauses को समझें — ये subjects, objects और complements की तरह काम करते हैं — स्पष्ट नियम, उदाहरण और परीक्षा के लिए अभ्यास।
Noun एक शब्द है: happiness, Delhi, teacher। Noun phrase शब्दों का समूह है: the tall man from Delhi। Noun clause एक पूरा clause है जो noun की तरह काम करता है।
What he said surprised everyone.
Clause what he said sentence का subject है।
यह अक्शर that, whether, if, what, why, how, when, where, who, whoever, whatever से शुरू होता है।
जब noun clause subject होता है, तो verb से पहले आता है।
What he said is true.
Whether he comes doesn’t matter.
That she passed is wonderful news.
How he escapes remains a mystery.
Note: जब noun clause subject होता है, तो verb आमतौर पर singular होता है।
❌ What he said are true.
✅ What he said is true.
Noun clause verb का object हो सकता है।
I know that he is honest.
She asked whether I was coming.
I don’t understand what you mean.
He explained how the machine works.
Do you know where she lives?
I am sure that he will come.
She was surprised by what he said.
We are thinking about whether we should go.
He insisted that he was right.
Linking verbs (be, seem, become) के बाद, noun clause complement की तरह काम कर सकता है।
The problem is that we don’t have enough time.
The question is whether we can afford it.
That is what I meant.
The truth is that he never tried.
Noun clause किसी अन्य noun को rename या explain कर सकता है (आमतौर पर fact, idea, news, hope, belief)।
The fact that she passed made everyone happy.
I have no idea what he wants.
The news that the exam was cancelled relieved everyone.
His belief that hard work pays off kept him going.

I believe that she is honest. (indicative — normal verb form)
Formal English में, suggestion के verbs (suggest, recommend, insist, demand, require) subjunctive लेते हैं — verb का base form -s के बिना।
